Speak Up and Step Out
Adopt-A-Highway!
Friend awareness
![]() | Start encouraging your friends at school to recycle! Start saying things like: "recycle, don't throw it on the floor" or "that will end up in the ocean if its not recycled." I've found that encouraging friends really does help, and you end up with a greener school and community. |
Inform your neighbors!
![]() | If you feel left out because you're a kid, step up and talk about it! I live near the James River and am sending flyers to my neighbors alerting them of some of the repercussions of living near polluted water. |
Talk to your buds :)
![]() | It's easy to get some more green followers; all you have to do is talk to your friends! Don't be preachy (saying that their carbon foot print is huge) or nagging (don't do this don't do that) or they won't listen. But if you're calm and clear, you can rustle up a few more advocates for mama earth. I talked to my friends, and now they're greener than ever before. Easy :) |
old toys, new people
![]() | If you have any old toy or something go to the nearest homeless shelter or soup kicten to your toys to kids! |
Get Your School Involved!
![]() | If you really want to have your voices heard, get your school involved in the cause. Recruit friends, club members, or just students on campus to write a packet of letters to the government or specific companies, organize a student protest, give a court testimonial, etc. There really is no limit to what you can do once you start acting as a group! Just remember to keep your actions peaceful and respectful to those around you. |
Save environment
![]() | My Career as an environmental specialist, I will do everything i can to save the world. You can make easy money with recycling bottles and cans. You might think you feel silly by recycling cans, but know it's not just for the moey but saving the environment. Thank You! |
A tip how to "green" your school
![]() | Talk to your school principal about having a recycling drive once a month or every other week, etc. No matter if you are afraid, just get up there and give a speech why saving the planet matters! Hint: a really good way to spread the word is a recycling skit. |
Get the Word Out!
| Creating an e-newsletter will help galvanize support for your green cause. You’ll need to include a good photo so people feel a sense of connection to you and your message. Send your passionate, positive, and powerful messages out every week or month around the same time, and keep them long enough that they add value to your readers’ lives but not too long that they overwhelm. |
Brrrrrrr!
![]() | Why are so many stores, restaurants, and movie theaters so dang cold? Have you ever forgotten to bring a sweater to the movies and sat shivering the whole time? If you don’t speak up, why would they change? Start by asking nicely, and then think about writing a few letters to the home office if that doesn’t help. |
