LindaLinda Sivertsen wasn’t raised like a jungle baby (she slept in a crib, with footsy pajamas), but her mom was the greenest mom in their town in Northern California. During summer droughts, Mom would take buckets of Linda’s bath water to the front lawn, and when it did finally rain, theirs would be the only sudsy yard in town! Linda admits that her parents’ passion for the earth was sometimes embarrassing—especially when she had to bring her funky health-food lunches to school while everyone else ate white bread with yummy fake cheese! But good habits die hard, and she’s grown to be even more dedicated to eco-friendly living than her mother in some instances. “With her distaste for germs, I can’t see Mom for a minute living without running hot water!”
Linda began her writing career in the late 80’s because she wanted to shine a light on causes of the utmost importance—saving the last stands of redwood groves, cleaning up the oceans, reducing CO2 emissions, and preserving the world’s diminishing top soils. But when she’d talk about these issues, people’s eyes would glaze over. So she started interviewing celebrities instead.

As a professional dog walker and pet sitter, Linda had VIP access to celebrities who were using their time and resources to help save the natural world. Motivated by her enthusiasm, they in turn introduced her to scientists, activists, and leaders in the field. As her awareness about the issues expanded, so too did Linda’s ever-present passion and commitment to make “environmental education through entertainment” her life’s work.

Her first book, "Lives Charmed: Intimate Conversations with Extraordinary People" (HCI, Oct. ’98), features chapters on Woody Harrelson getting himself arrested on behalf of the redwoods and Julia Butterfly Hill’s record-breaking tree sit, Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith’s tireless efforts to enact the Dolphin Safe Tuna Act, and how Wyland’s life-sized whale murals have brought global attention to the plight of these threatened species.

Today Linda is a highly sought-after writer (her latest co-authored book is the NY Times best-seller Harmonic Wealth by James Ray), a magazine editor (she’s the West Coast Editor of Balance magazine), a reporter (her “Green Hollywood” spots for Leeza Gibbons’ nationally syndicated radio show “Hollywood Confidential” share celebrities’ green goings-on), and a contributing writer for Delta Sky magazine’s Green Scene department.

As Linda prepares to send her jungle boy out into a greener, wilder world, she’ll be home, running through her neighborhood with Tosh’s pack of furry friends. Isn’t it interesting how life so often comes around full circle, and our roles so naturally reverse?
